I thought for a second you meant those other "Yo mama..." type snaps.

"Yo mama so fat the only lipstick she use is butter."
"Yo mama so ugly she scared the Elephant Man."
"Yo mama so stanky cats keep trying bury her."

And so on.

Actually I do know what I'm talking about, tired of small town idiots 10 years behind the times, you probly still have a Farah Fawcett hair-do too. Honey I was doing Goth at Jackie 60 and the Bank in NYC 5 years ago. Goth ended when manson did his Galm CD. Fashion wise the only company still doing Goth Clothing is Jennie Nitro and her stuffs too expensive for you anyway. Lipservice still does some staple goth looking clothing but even they are selling it under punk. Before you tell someone they don't know what they are talking about you better look at how little you know yourself.

Do you realize how dumb you sound attempting to defend something you find unappealing by recalling your glory daze? I hate that you are the type of fool that believes every fashion and trend in this world revolves around what the media finds acceptable for that week. Guess what? I play many parts during the week: PTA Mommy, Gothic freak, writer, exec, and more. Gothic can be whatever one feels, including a love for the fashion, music, or whatever. I do not like Manson or any of the newer artists often associated with the term gothic is today's culture. I guess you just got to old to pull off the look. Small town? Where do you live? And as far as money goes, I have plenty. I didn't know it was a rule that people could only shop certain places to be part of a culture, either. You see, I accept others as they are, not because of their appearance detail. Maybe I will see you around. Maybe you will be laughing at me. But I don't shop in The Gap often, so I kind of doubt it. Kiss my pale white ass.

im not an expert so you can tell me to shut up here, but i think that for some goth might be a lifestlye not a trend, you talk about it as if its no longer cool, well maybe its not, but it doesnt mean people cant act or dress that way till they die. thats the "cool" "trendy" way to be yourself.

maybe goth as a trend did go out 5 years ago, i have no idea, ive never been particularly goth or anything else for that matter, but my grand dad still wears a fedora, i dont tell him that went out of style in the 40s. I shave my head, have been for lil over 7 years, that "trend" has come and gone many times. but i dont do it because its trendy, i do it because, its easy, and i like the way it looks and feels.
anyway, ill let you pick up here and tell me where im wrong
take care :)

ps tomorrow im wearing a Hawaiian shirt (sp?) and i am guessing that no one here has watched an episode of magnum PI in the last decade :)

It is a lifestyle as opposed to a trend for many people. Once again this varies person to person, just as ons personal values and character differ. Boohoo needs a fedora, black lipstick, and a hawaiian shirt.

You were doing "goth" "five years ago?" Wow! You are my fucking hero! To think I thought myself as "cutting edge" when I was doing it twenty years ago! Shit! I must have been behind the times. Clearly anyone that was doing it five years ago is so much hipper than anyone else on here.

ps. next time you wish to open your mouth, know what the fuck you're talking about.

Add me to the mix of 'being goth' 15 years ago. Of course, I was ridiculed to death by some, paraised by a few others. I was asked if I was a hippy, a lesbian, a retard (not my term - what I was asked), poor, rich, from out of town, etc. I can remember this one really stupid girl telling me that when the song "Hippy hippy shake" came out that it made her think of me. Nobody knew what to call me. It was glorious. Now she drives an old ford ltd and has many children and their many fathers to deal with. I can remember being the first kid at school to wear a Souxie tee and everyone freaking out. I'm glad I am me. Too bad how some people aren't comfortable being themselves. Of course, originality isn't something everyone can handle.

> Too bad how some people aren't comfortable being themselves.

I find the irony of someone defending originality via "goth" either as a label or a lifestyle delicious like caramel. These are all social activities, attempted so that one is either accepted within the larger group, or rejected by it, but either way seeking social and self definition. Hardly anything original about that.

That is your definition. I was merely giving you mine. I am original because I am 'me.' Not because I am goth. That is just one facet of my personality.

It's quite perplexing as to why our culture feels the need to heard people into a group like sheep based on the way they look or the feelings and personas they tend to portray.

Individualizm can never be respected by some.

Unless of cource there really is a difference between darkwave and goth.

But actually goth is enjoying a bit of a scene surgance. Expecially in the New York area. Actually as far as I can tell most of the little genre's of music are making it good. Punk, retro country, ambiant, brit pop or whatever.

I recal an article i read earlier this year. Taht with the advent of the internet it will be harder for one person or act to make it big. People keep to their own musical interest and don't crossover. So in all honesty society will have less Elvis's, Beatles, and Micheal Jacksons. Instead artists will catger more to their sound scene.

I mean before the nineties if Iwanted to hear a goth song I had to search forever for references. Now all I have to do is go to yahoo and wham bam.
