I don't really get what the big deal is with wanting a Starbucks. I dislike coffee, though. What is the difference in Starbucks and other coffee shops/brands of coffee?Belle

I like Elvis. I do feel though that although he was a great preformer, he was not the first great in rock in roll, as so many suggest. He was just the first to effectively market sex appeal and rock n roll in a fashion that got attention. His music was dandy, his acting sucked. What made him memorable was his charisma.I like tea and water. ;) And Coca~Cola. But I am trying to quit cokes. I LOVE how coffee smells. But I like how Kystals smell too. Neither taste of the impression they give off, in my opinion. Belle...waiting for the negativity to begin.

As with any substance worth getting addicted to, coffee is an an acquired taste. But, in my opinion, it is one well worth the effort of acquiring. Sure, I get a headache if I go too long without. But there's nothing like the joy of a wonderful cup of coffee to satisfy my habit early in the morning. Sort of like that first beer. What I don't get is how people can drink so much damn syrupy sugar water. Yuck. To each his own, I guess.

You need to get that stick out of your butt not everything has to be about saving the world. You are a perfect example of why Knoxville does'nt have a Starbucks or much of anything else. Enjoy your McDonalds brew simplton.

You should be ashamed! All you and your ilk care about is self gratification and looking cool. Have you ever thought about doing someting for your fellow man? I think not. It's all about the statement and not the action for you. I bet you drive a damn SUV! I bet you drive that SUV and proudly display a WWF (and I ain't talking about wresting either simpleton) sticker and fell all warm and squishy. Have you ever thought to just stop and see what else is out there? Have you ever stopped on the street to hand over your last few bucks to someone less fortunate than you? I think not. It's all about money and status with you and that makes me want to vomit. Why don't you just jump in your 10mpg fossil killer and find a place where you can toss your styrofoam containers out the window while eating your Big Mac in route to a baby seal clubbing. Sick. You are just sick.

Ha Ha you are typical Knoxville, all you know is McDonalds and SUVs. Your the one who needs to get out of town and maybe I would suggest you try a Starbucks on your way. Ironic thing about your comment is how many HOMELESS have asked me for change to buy a cup of coffee. We are talking about coffee. Maybe you should find a hippie village somewhere left over from the 60s where you would fit in perfect, maybe making some home made bread might calm your nerves. Your SO concerned about the poor maybe you could sell you computer or spend all the time you waste posting in this chat room on helping out in a homeless shelter. Fuck you and your filthy homeless. I don't owe the homeless a fucken thing and where you get off telling me I should'nt like coffe because the homeless are hungry (if they would stop drinking booze maybe they would'nt be so hungry). The fact that you are even in the united states shows your not really as concerened as you claim or you'd be in africa helping the 30,000 kids who die of hunger each day. Fuck the bums we have here on the street and go help children who are dying of starvation not liver damage!!You need a good push off your high horse.

1. Fuck you. You are a horrible, coffee addicted filth monger. 2. Starbucks is just another reason that our youth can't find Nebraska on a map. Doubt that you can either. 3. The 'homeless' you so lovingly talk about want fucking coffee. Not some fucking status symbol on a styrofoam cup you fucking twit! 4. Maybe you would do well to buy a dictionary. Look toward the back and do something about the horrible state your conjuntions are in. 5. I hope you know that the 'homeless' are pissing in your coffe at this moment. 6. You're a little, little person. I will be a wonder if stomach cancer doesn't cut your worthless life short. 7. I hope the 'bums' you can't stand shit in your mouth and make you taste just how good what you had for dinner last night but couldn't finish so you threw it away. They dug it out, now it's time for leftovers. Hope you're hungry.

I never ever drink coffee out of styrofoam cups and if you knew anything about food you would know it makes the coffee taste bad.........go learn which fork to use at the dinner table, smuck.

Umm I lived in a town of only 137.000 and they had 3 starbucks. It has nothing to do with population or demographics. It has to do with the mentality of the people. People in Knoxville don't sit and chat and enjoy themselves unless there it has fastfood and pastries attatched. Panera is doing a huge business but coffee is not their focus, fat is.

Actually they "proudly serve Starbucks coffee" yes and I can serve it at my house as well, making it not a Starbucks. Starbucks brews their coffee different so you get the whole burnt experience. Besides Starbucks coffee in not my favorite but the coffee shops themselves can be quite wonderful, sofas, stone fireplaces and cool lighting, makes all the difference in the world from those hard uncomfortable chairs and floresent lighting at Barnes & Nobels.

It's actually at Barnes and Noble. I'm thinking about opening a Barstuck's. It's a new concept where you sit all night with your ass glued to a barstool drinking beer and waiting for that perfect cup of JFG to be served first thing in the morning. Nothing like a hangover to make you really appreciate a barrista's handiwork. Oh yeah, they'll also sell Tuscan Pickled Eggs.

Re: Barstucks -- Java Man
They need to put the BAR into Barne's and Noble. Nothing like a sixpack and a good book, I always say.Speaking of which, the new Irvine Welsh is right incredible. Much better, and more mature, than Trainspotting. The best book I've read in a really long time.

Re: Barstucks -- joeyboy
Being that I live in a town (Philly) that has a Starbucks every other block, I can tell you that you aren't missing anything and the longer that you can avoid having one in Knoxville, the better off you are. Besides, they just let the same pot sit there all damn day, so if you want to pay $3 for burnt coffee, then by all means get a Starbucks. Dunkin Donuts is better and cheaper. Now if they could just get a damned Krispy Kreme up here I'd be set... Oh but what you really want to organize a protest against is Xando, which I don't know if it's there or not, but it is the most vomitous environment and makes Starbucks look appealing. Xando not only serves shite, expensive coffee, but then also gives you a fondue pot so you can make your own s'mores. That is just a damn shame.
