Anyone remember the "Nuggets" two-LP set? I guess they have five or six boxes of that shit on CD now, but the vinyl is where it's at: "I had too much to dream last night" - the Electric Prunes; "Dirty Water" - the Standells; "Public Execution" - Mouse; etc. etc. The list goes on. It was issued in '72 and reissued on Sire in '76 with notes by Lenny Kaye. The album introduced me to the 13th Floor Elevators, Prunes, Standells, Mouse, Moulty, Shadows of Knight, Leaves, Seeds, yadayadayada...I'm probably one of the few who listened but didn't form a band. Understand the Standells made an appearance on "The Munsters" and performed "Dirty Water."

I have that on vinyl and have purchased several of the Nugget's CD collections and NONE of them are near as good as the double LP. You're right on. I gotta hook up my turntable....

You know, people in Boston thought the Standells were from there because of "Dirty Water". They were from Cali I believe. Don't forget The Count Five and "Psychotic Reaction". Classic. JB

just a footnote here.Webb Wider covers "I Had To Much To dream (last night ) on his excellent Cd (but out of print) Doo Dad and covers "Talk Talk" on Town & Country Cd,not to mention a Mott the Hoople cover.or 2.Pick up on it.
