That was a surprise ending? Frankly I knew for certain the mother was a ghost when the priest woudln't come over. Some more astute filmgoers might have seen it coming early.
Which in a way it ruins it for me. Liked the film. Atmosphere was good. Even like the slow English Cinemea pace of it all. But that ending...Hmmm.
Perhpas it wasn't supposed to be a suprise ending? In A Christmas Carol the reader isn't really surprised that Scrooge is the dead guy in Christams Yet to Come. The real deal is watching how Scroom tries to dupe himself into believing it's not him.
And maybe this is the point of the Others. Taht the mother is so convinced that she's right and proper she can't even concieve that she and her children are dead.
Maybe.
