Here's a web site run by the state of Tennessee for the citizens; it shows the sex offenders who are LIVING in your area.

For you girls who read this board, it might be something you wanna take a look at-- what it shows are the rapists, the wife beaters, the guys who beat the hell out of their girlfriends, the child molesters, etc.

I already looked at the list for Knox County, Tennessee, and it's pretty extensive, actually. Some of you guysand girls might even KNOW one of them by chance,

or you might FIND OUT that someone you know is on there.

Maybe even someone you never thought would BE on it is there.

Type in KNOX in the county to search and wait until it loads up.

Now girls, you already know where YOU live, so look carefully at the addresses of each offender; even if you don't know any of them...one of them MIGHT live right near you.

It might be a good idea for a girls group of friends to buy a Knoxville City map, and put a red pin on each street where one of them lives. Now that would make an interesting map at a sorority house,

or anywhere else.

I've even heard that a bar owner in one Florida town put all the photos of sex offenders in the county on the wall behind glass INSIDE the ladies' room. He put them there because he wanted the women who went in there to SEE faces, in the hope that they would recognize a dangerous guy.

Ten years ago, this technology didn't even exist; now you can FIGHT back...

check it out.

Here's my take on the list. First, I'm certain everyone here knows that all states are supposed to have one. It seems some state's lists are rather extensive, while others are not as elaborate. I suppose that is due to differing laws. Anyway, I have worked with victims rights organizations, rape crisis center, and other places, and I can say with confidence that that list is nothing close tor reality. The lists show a handful of persons accused, not anything near the true amount of people who commit sexually illegal acts. The lists are there to satisy the public's need for information. The idea of the lists are great. I am all for arrest and crime records to be public and free. But they just don't provide a lot of info. Another little thing one can notice if they pay enough attention is some of these rapists are awol. It will say 'last known address' instead of a current one. It makes me wonder why if they are considered such a threat to society, then why/how did the system lose them? That just sucks for everyone. Something else is although these lists may seem long, a portion of these people are incarcerated, so obviously (hopefully) they are not a threat to anyone. They're there to make the lists look more complete.

I think we need lists for drunk drivers, moms who don't take care of their kids, and anyone who endangers others. It's sadly ordinary that no one gives a shit that people like this live in this world.

I searched. There were three. Two were there for underage sex -- consensual, widely practiced, and not really a sex crime at all.

The other is for "sexual battery." I understand that some poor boy in New Jersey who kissed another girl (age 11 or 12) got charged with "sexual battery" for doing that, and he's now on their sex offenders list. Kinda undercuts your confidence in these things.

JJJ, are YOU on the list?

Wow! That's amazing. But, there are no offenders in my zip. Oh well, so much for that.
