Standing on the grass outside the wedding, I was talking with another friend about the BIG STEP of marriage. We were both looking forward to the reception, and the bride and groom were due to walk to the limo about now. My friend was getting married in a few months, and as we talked I told him...

"well, you're getting married. So you know all about the vows. Just one thing, not to say that you might, but if you ever DO cheat on her, do NOT TELL ME ABOUT IT...because I'm just going to chew you out if you do. Don't even tell me."

I was dead serious with him.

To me, a cheating married man is without a scrap of honour.

We have now sunk to such a level that when a congressman has NUMEROUS affairs and one night stands, and who even might be involved in the dissappearance of a girl less than HALF his age, there's still no real outcry for his resignation. UNREAL. If this guy doesn't beat all that I've seen.

Fact is, when he LIED to Chandra's parents on the phone, he was LYING to one of his constituents. He had the chance to come clean, and should have realized that this girl had told her mother all about Mister Gary Condit,

a Mr. Hyde in the day, Doctor Jekyll later on...

family man by day, cheating adulturer by night.

We've sunk to a level in which we will accept just about anything from our leaders, without realizing that words like honour and integrity aren't something you wear like a 9 to 5 necktie, tossing over the couch on the way into a lust filled evening, which came at the price of your promises to a wife 3000 miles away...

A man can be a liar without committing adultery,

but every adulterer is ALSO a liar.

He's a liar because he can't tell the truth about where he's been and what he's been doing;

he's a liar because he made a vow and would not keep it.

Condit could have HAD Chandra on his arm, and could have done it in front of all his compatriots. All he had to do was GET A DIVORCE.

But he didn't want to do THAT.

So he's now back at home looking for photo ops with no questions about behaviour he knows he can't explain, a sunk titanic for a career as he re-arranges the deck chairs...

the ship's headed to Davy Jones' locker.

Condit should resign immediately. The longer this mess goes on, the more he hurts public perception of all his fellow congressmen, and hurts his own party.

The message though is clear. The preacher's pretty clear when he says.....

"forsaking ALL others."

I thought the symbol for cheating men was a huge winking eye? This whole circus goes to show all of us how insipid major media outlets, especially television, have become. Sadder still, these outlets to some degree may simply reflect the cardboard, laxative-effect tastes of the Average American. Let's analyze this: An American man cheated on his wife with a younger woman, who goes missing. She's either alive or dead.. who knows? Is it really this newsworthy?

Ok, so he's a U.S. Congressman...maybe that makes it a minor news item. But he doesn't repersent me so why do I care? The answer: I don't. If Chandra went missing voluntarily...Vaya Con Dios, Baby. "In the end it's right. I hope you have the time of your life."

If she is dead, all the TV coverage in the world won't bring her back. In the end, our plodding, but often effective, police-justice system will find the answer. Film at 11.

It's easy to get all wound up about sins in the abstract. Certainly, our better natures strive to eliminate such things as infidelity and deceit. But realistically, to live is to sin, which is why its wages (not "payment") is death. You live, you sin, you die -- everyone. So why not forgive? Why not?
The word "forgive" is not in JJJ's vocabulary

so how could he use it, much less abide by it. All conservative Republicans are just like that. They are not a forgiving type, but they sure hide behind the cross a lot.
