She's Got A Mace Can On Her Key Chain...

Posted by Julias Jaded Jester ® , Aug 07,2001,01:04   MetroBlab

It's Saturday by the pool. The sun is searing down on me, and I'm drinking a Heineken. I've always loved the summer, and this one is winding down. Not many girls by the pool anymore; they rush the season to tan, but are quick to abandon it as well. This is the time that Don Henley was talking about when he wrote "The Boys of Summer."

There's a girl here, though. I haven't talked to her, but even from my chair I can see that her key chain has a mace can on it. It's one of those slender black ones that can't be worth a flip for anything more than spraying an attacker. But I know why she bought it;-- she's afraid in this day and age. From the abduction rape murder statistics, to date rape...from stalking to domestic violence, this world is a totally different one for her that the one which Rosy the Riveter once walked in...

I keep saying to myself that if enough people care, then we'll end this plague, but I really don't know if it'll happen. I'm saddened in a way for her; she shouldn't have to feel that way. She shouldn't have to be afraid. But I realize that she's not being paranoid for carrying it.

But the simple fact is that it bothers me. She NEVER SHOULD have felt like she needed to buy that mace can. Even though it fits nicely on the key chain, the presence of it is never far away. The mace can, while protecting her to some small extent, is a reminder TO HER. And if we really had a safe society FOR HER, then she'd never even think of buying a mace can for her key chain.

I finish a beer and open another; the sky is clear and it's really hot....I love the feeling of Holland made lager rolling right down to my jaded soul as the sweat runs down my chest. I'm at peace today in many ways, but I have wishes, and I'm sometimes tired mentally with the weight of all that I've read about crime... stuff that lots of girls don't know and are better of because of it;--

I know the reality of crime.

It took me three months of plowing thru data at the U.S. Dept of Justice, and five years in the victims rights movement.

I know about girls who walk unseen by most, in the night time mist, near quiet lakes in the darkness...

I know about the rape stats, the molestation stats, the stories that girls keep hidden for years, the 'Janie Got a Gun' stories, and I'm tired of people making excuses for criminals. And I know I have but one lifetime to give for a utopian idea whose time has come.

I know what can happen to victims...

So when an attorney general sees the paperwork from an appeal, does he say that his office will

fight to show the world she had a right to live? Will he get justice for her in a world that failed to protect her...

Another letter written to yet another MALE attorney general, this time in New Jersey. Tell me John Farmer, how many stays of execution does the jackal get? And by the way John, if we had some heel clicking, blue dress wearing hellfire and brimstone GOP femme judges, would they issue stay after stay for this wretch who has hurt so many?

I'm willing to bet they wouldn't. Let's HIRE some.

And just out of curiousity, are we somehow surprised that there's Prozac tucked in the same area of a modern girl's purse as the birth control pills...?

This girl at the pool? I'd like to ask her out, and maybe she'd even say yes...

but today I just don't want it bad enough to try...

and anyway, there's

"nobody on the road,
nobody on the beach
I feel it in the air
the summer's out of reach
empty lake, empty streets
the sun goes down alone
I'm driving by your house
though I know you're not home..."--Don Henley/The Boys of Summer

JJJ, I carry pepper spray on my keychain too. Let me tell you a story.

I used to live in the Fort. One night, I got woken up by loud music at 4 a.m. I went and politely asked our neighbors (who lived in the front of the same house) to turn it down a little. One of the guys who lived there said "OK". His roommate later came and knocked on my door. He wanted me to come out and "have a talk" about their music being too loud. After I closed the door, he proceeded to throw things at our door and windows, and yell things like "That's right, bitch!" and "Come on, pussy" for about an hour, until the cops came.

In other words, he was a little Fred Durst wannabe idiot. Why do things like that happen? Is it just alcohol? I don't think so. I wasn't even demanding that they turn down - I was asking. I was requesting respect. I would much rather they have kept the loud music and left me the fuck alone, you know? I'm 26 years old now. I really don't see any point in any kind of pissing contest with a 19 year old with a small dick.

Moral of the story, JJJ, is that violent idiots are everywhere, and I would suggest they target men more than women. It's just that when they target men, it usually doesn't get reported, or it gets skimmed over as "oh, well, just another fight". As if men "should" fight. As if this is any kind of acceptable behavior.

Actually, Don Henley's song is about coping with advancing middle age, the end of the California dream, etc. And Don himself coped with all that with the help of copious amounts of cocaine and hookers. Not exactly a good poster child for sensitive masculinity. I like the song too, but mostly for the great hook, which was written by Tom Petty's guitarist Mike Campbell. Speaking of Tom Petty's band, did you read that weird thing about his bass player getting caught in a stolen SUV with Carlene Carter and a whole bunch of heroin? Talk about your boys of summer...

JJJ, you sound like a decent enough guy. You just have some strange obsessions. If I were a female, I might be kinda creeped out by your intense awareness of female vulnerability, your insistence on "protecting" the fairer sex, and not least your adaptation of feminist language in the service of anti-feminist causes. I agree that it sucks that women have to be more careful about walking alone than men do. It sucks, and it has always sucked, and it will probably continue to suck for quite some time. I don't know what the solutions are, exactly, but I seriously doubt your eye-for-an-eye idea of brutal justice is the path to a more enlightened society.

I always looked at the words of the song to mean it was the end of summer, and in that resort town, most of the people had already left. He's lamenting the loss of his love and wants to win her back, and show her what he's made of...

and you're right-- I really AM a decent guy, but you're wrong that I have some 'obsessions'.... I'm not creepy at all, and most women who know me wouldn't say that I've ever been.

You're just interpreting what I write in a different way than I intended it...and it's not that I 'insist on protecting the fairer gender'...

It's this: I'm dissappointed that we as a society have done such a LOUSY job of protecting their right to live and walk in safety. Rape aggregate INCREASED from 1998 to 1999, and so did aggravated assault stats, even as violent crime decreased in America. So rape, date rape and sexual assault is getting WORSE, not better.

So it hasn't 'always sucked' as you say; indeed, when Rosy the Riveter was walking around rape was VERY RARE and abduction rape murder was almost unheard of.

My idea of justice is also very much a modern, strong approach, and nothing about it is 'brutal'....

there's nothing painful about execution at all, and it is not brutal either. We ARE an enlightened society, and will remain so even if we extract the ultimate justice for ultimate crimes.

The average rapist only stays locked up for 2.2 years in America, and many never even go to jail at all.

Wanting a safer world for girls to grow up in is a worthy goal.

Gene, you have a lousy memory. I told you three months ago that the place was a parking lot for jpegs which I use to illustrate points.
There's NOTHING wrong with ANY jpeg over there.

There's nothing unusual about them, and nothing 'revealing' about them; anyone here can go thru them, and I'd care less if anyone I WORK with saw them.

In fact, one guy that I work with is ON this very board; if I was afraid that anyone could or would find something that I was embarrassed about then I'd never have that directory uploaded to being with, and

I KNOW that a person can get a directory listing.

A photo of some girls walking into water in swimsuits, which was taken from the Survivors TV web site before it went defunct, is NOTHING to be ashamed of, and Gene it doesn't negate my points in ANY post that I've written here.

Holmes, I was looking at the mistake made in the RJM worm when most people who post here were learning how to read.

I was reading Pengo's adventures before the internet was really mainstream.

There's NOTHING I am afraid of in that directory-- feel free to go all the way thru it, and the virtualgirl jpeg is from a PROGRAM called virtuagirl, which darn near every stockbroker in America has on his computer. Type in virtuagirl at google.com and go find it; it's FREE.

For girls who want a 'virtuaguy' program, they have that as well, and the whole thing's pretty much just G rated.

By the way, Gene-- I have no idea who gamma 10 is....

Very well said and very well put. Kudo's to you JJJ.

Here's another sad fact to add to your stats. A person charged with domestic assault will only stay in jail for a mandatory 12 hours, even a repeat offender. The average cost of bail is $250.00. After being released from jail, the offender can go home. He/She is allowed to remain in contact with his/her victim. Even though there is a pro arrest policy in domestic assault situations, most victims do NOT press charges...which is why the discression is made by the police officer whether or not the state will prosecute the offender. In my case a Knox county police officer decided that it was not worth his time to pursue my ex even though I had stated I wanted to press charges, even though it was very apparent by my bruises, scrapes, and black eye that I had been beaten and I made him aware of the previous abuse...the officer simply took me home and gave me a card of telephone numbers and told me that I didn't have to put up with being treated that way. My experience with the police may be limited and maybe my experience is the exception but I'm afraid it isn't. I promised myself that I would do whatever I could to prevent him from doing this to another woman.

I've been drinking heavily since I read this post earlier. Went straight to the stuff that's supposed to make you forget, forgive, and focus on nothingness. That's what this is doing to me to read this shit almost every day. JJJ has alot of valid points. No, I have not checked out alot of the stats he posts. No, most of what he says makes me wonder if he is another psuednym or another Scaramnaga or some rapist or maybe just a lonely guy that does care. Then I think about the idea that altho most of what he says is critiqued in a bitter way, he IS RIGHT. What fails to get mentioned is that it has always been this way for women and always will be. We live in a world that chooses to belittle and abuse women when applicable. Due to the modern communication society is aware of the epidemic of sorts that violence against females is. I don't care what any feminist person says, men run the world. Most men are fine. I get the nagging thought though when I am around any man though that eventually he will want more than friendship, or just wants to fuck. I'm really thrown off when this isn't the case. Which isn't often. JJJ can say that men need to quit being abusive to women, but women need to quit allowing for it to happen. Sometimes certain women try and get hurt further. The system does not allow for serious protection in most cases from abusive men. It's easier to silently fear than openly run and know fear getting caught. What is it that makes a man feel like he has to rape? What is it that makes a man feel the need to carress her face with his fist when she disagrees with his words? Then she hides from the world to hide the bruises. Becomes so isolated that when she tries to dig her way out the hole is 100 feet above her head. Quicksand.

Women abuse too. But I belive women abuse because of a cycle of abuse in their family, be it a man who abused her as a child, or a father who demanded quiet and so the mother would abuse her to keep the home quiet so then the father wouldn't hit the mother. You get my point.

I don;t think that women will seek help unless they see actual men in their lives take a stand against abusers. When women help women out of abusive situation that is good, but women have many trust and fears still towards men. If men would come out of hiding on these issues and join the victims to repair their emotions and lives, much could be accomplished.

Guessing I'll get a bunch of remarks thrown my way. Take aim.

I was given a can of mace for my keychain when I worked as an ER registration person. I never needed it even when dealing with the assortment of wackos that wandered in daily.

I think the media just ups your paranoia level so you'll buy more crap to 'protect' yourself. My favorite example of this recently was a television news report saying 'ladies, carry a cell phone-it discourages attackers'. I then ran across a print article that said 'carrying a cell phone makes WOMEN easy targets for attackers'.

The real root of the problem is always ignored. The attackers are individuals ignored by society. Individuals who have not had any intervention/mental health care.

example: A pal of mine lives back in the wilds of Bean Station. There was this guy who lived down the road from him that everybody 'thought was crazy'. He always acted really crazy & even ran outside naked/screaming obscenities to great a schoolbus one morning. (yeah he was an adult & yeah I know Scaramanga is thinking "but..but..I do that everyday.") He had been in trouble with law enforcement repeatedly.
No one did anything until after he had beaten the hell out of his grandmother, decapitated his best friend, murdered his girlfriend (people just wondered where she was for a year-he had tossed the dead ones down a well.)

In short, the world & most the people in it CAN BE WRONG AND OFTEN ARE. Learn to filter out what's BS & what's not.

I remember that! I lived in Morristown when that happened. He was a whole 'nother entity, he was a crazy murderer and I don't think he could be put in the same class as common carjackers and/or attackers.
I do agree with you that the liberal media does try to scare everyone but I think they do it to try to convince us that everyone is basically bad and people are pretty much crazy and that's why we should let the government take our weapons so the government can better protect us...personally I think it's a bunch of bullshit. Call me redneck as hell but I am not giving up my weapons and my right to bear arms and protect me and mine.

I truly believe the underlying problem is somehow, at some time, for some reason an attacker made the conscious decision that his/her victim is less of a human being than him/her. The attacker decided and chose to disrespect his/her victim for some reason and the attacker probably doesn't respect many human beings and/or human life at all. The attacker made the decision that he/she is in power and wants that power over his/her victim.

Despite my experience, I do not carry a can of mace. I do, however, carry a weapon and it's up to a potential attacker to find out what weapon I might be carrying that day!:-) I think there are ways to prevent yourself from becoming a potential victim, but sometimes an attacker will make you a victim no matter what you do to protect yourself.

Posted by Angie , Aug 07,2001,18:18   MetroBlab

I don't even know where to start. This is something I know first hand. No, I'm not bragging, it's shameful to me-very shameful. But I decided long ago that I refuse to keep my mouth shut...I am simple proof that anyone can be abused by someone they love. I don't want anyone, man or woman, to go thru what I went thru, no one should have to experience what I tolerated.
I am a very educated woman, very well educated at one of TN finest private colleges. I am also very well educated in Social Sciences as far as family violence, marriage, and juvenile justice, etc... But my college education NEVER prepared me for what happened to me. I used to judge those women who LET their men beat them up too. I used to think "Why don't they just leave?" or "I'd fucken hang the bastard if he touched me," but that just wasn't so. I was STUPID. I ALLOWED my ex fiance to treat me like shit. I still am not sure why I LET him do it. At one time Roane County pressed Domestic Assault charges against him...I should have left-but I didn't. I fell for the crying and empty promises hook line and sinker...I was a moron. I was in love...even though he beat me up more than a few times for some reason I loved him. I thought that if he would stop using drugs and stop drinking he would be a fine man and I could help him. That attitude is so common I now know. I woke up, I saw the light...granted it was because he threw me out of a moving truck after punching me in the eye, but I lived and I got the balls to get out.
As for the justice system. If you think for one minute the justice system is going to help you, "you" being an abused person looking for help, you've got another thing coming! I left the home with my dog and the clothes on my back. The next day I called the police for an escort to retrieve some of my things at least a change of clothes and my toothbrush...simple shit like that...Guess what the cops told me an hour and a half later AFTER my initial call that I would have to seek a judgement and he suggested that I go to Kohl's and pick up a few clothes for work and that walmart would have some toiletries I could purchase until my hearing came up and then I could retrieve my things. Mind you this is a man who has a previous conviction of DOmestic Assault just 6 months prior. My glasses had been broken, I now was pretty much homeless relying on the kindness of my friends, I had no clothes and none of my personal belongings and now the cops were not going to help me. That was just the beginning of my education of the reality of what happens to women who are abused and how they are treated. To cut the story short, I took a warrant out on him that exact same day and an order of protection, he was arrested almost 3 WEEKS LATER.THREE WEEKS!...he is not going to get in trouble for what he did to me. The court systems and the DA has made damn sure ofthat.
I still am not sure why he treated me that way and why I tolerated it. I didn't have to put up with being treated that way. I don't know how I fell for him. I was snowed BIG TIME!I fell for it!I believed him and thought his word meant something- but it didn't. Oh well, I chalk it up as a wonderful learning experience. I am glad I am still alive and I am glad I stuck to my guns and never got involved with the drug and alcohol abuse. Yep, I drink beer and smoke a little bud every now and then but that's it. I hate that it had to happen to me but I never learn things the easy way, I have to find out for myself...I think most people do and that's how they wind up in relationships with those people. Getting out WAS NOT easy at all. The justice system makes it so hard on victims of abuse. I cannot imagine what a male victim of abuse must be put through. NO ONE is there to help you. Yea, they tell you they are and they give you alist of a phone numbers and everyone acts like they care but they don't. Victims advocates? Advocates of what? Not returning your calls? Not helping you with who and how to give your evidence to? Knox County cops?PULEEEEZE! Unless you're willing to fork out some under the table cash money you can count on them leaving you out to dry. This left me with a real bad taste in my mouth and I finally understood why all of those women didn't "just leave." They had no one and no where to turn.
I am not a man hater by any means. I am a hater of drug and alcohol abuse but I am smart enough to know that one bad apple will only spoil the whole damn bunch IF you let it. So, I choose to throw that bad apple in the trash where he belongs and where he can be others just like him. My attitude and image about the typical abuser and victim have changed. Anyone can say what they want about me and what happened to me-it doesn't bother me. I'm still alive and I'm fortunate to be alive and out of harms way and that's all that matters to me.I have forgiven him and I will never forget. I forgave himfor my own sanity.

"JJJJ has alot of valid points."

Like what?

"We live in a world that chooses to belittle and abuse women when applicable."

How does it so "choose?" And when is it "applicable?" These are overly broad statements that you don't bother to support with examples of your meaning.

"I get the nagging thought though when I am around any man though that eventually he will want more than friendship, or just wants to fuck. I'm really thrown off when this isn't the case. Which isn't often."

Oddly enough, I find almost every man I talk to fairly interested in regular conversation, with no apparent sexual motives. I consider myself fairly perceptive, and the men I talk to generally never seem to expect or want more than a stimulating conversation or lively debate, or in some cases a good joke. Either all my male acquaintances comprise the enlightened minority of the sex, or they're adept at concealing their prurient, lascivious agenda to fuck me.

"The system does not allow for serious protection in most cases from abusive men."

What sort of "serious protection" would suffice? How can the "system" improve the lot of all us tortured, oppressed, helpless women?

"I don;t think that women will seek help unless they see actual men in their lives take a stand against abusers. If men would come out of hiding on these issues and join the victims to repair their emotions and lives, much could be accomplished."

Women who wait for men "in their lives" to take a stand don't have my sympathy. Women who wait, cower, and whimper about the evils of men are even further beneath contempt than the obsessive reactionary who began this thread (although I do credit him for provoking me weekly to post here). I admit that I have some fairly judgmental ideas about men and their attitudes toward women; however, I believe that the reason women in this country enjoy the liberties we now have relates to the early efforts of suffragists and birth control advocates who denied their status as "victims" rather than wallowing in self-pity. They got out, took some risks, and made some changes in the face of enormous opposition. They didn't demand that men take a stand for them, they stood up to men and took control of their own destinies. These are the women I admire; the grovelers and self-identified victims can lick my boots.

an obsessive reactionary?

that's quite a statement there, Julie.

And I thought you were an OK sort of girl all this time. It seems to me though, that you rarely ever agree in any shape or form in any post-- do you only respond when there's a 'reactionary' in your midst?

If you agree there's a problem, then what solution do you offer?

Many victims of violent crime are not 'grovelers' or 'self identified'...that was a very unprepared statement on your part, and an unenlightened one.

Many rape victims and domestic violence victims are not grovelers at all.

Just because you wear some boots won't help you in an all out scrap with a psychotic rapist either, Julie; indeed, a can of mace will probably only make you face a meaner rapist.

Just because one is for victims rights and is also PRO LIFE doesn't make him a reactionary, Julie-- I consider both movements cutting edge and very progressive.

I'm not obsessive OR reactionary...

Much ado has been made of my reference to "boots." For those of you who do not think metaphorically, and who strip every comment to its literal meaning, I was not literally referring to boots. It was a silly "empowerment" metaphor (though I dislike that psycho-babble term).

Now, I'm going to put on my burqua and be a good girl, keep my mouth shut, my opinions to myself, and my head bowed. For about fifteen minutes.

yes, well I do wonder what about me appears 'reactionary' to you...

it must be the PRO LIFE stance.

Which, not ironically at all, is actually a progressive stance.

Julie, the media may paint PRO LIFE people with the 'nutbag' brush, or try to make them all fit into a 'borne again' mold...but if you really knoew many people in that movement, you'd see plenty of modern minded people.

Why dontcha atleast give me a chance to impress you before I am stamped and classified as an 'obsessive reactionary'....

It's semantic, old boy. You say it's progressive because you advocate the rights of unborn. I am not insensitive to those rights, by the way, although most anti-abortion (pro-life by your definition) advocates would disagree.

I'm not going to get into an abortion debate on the Blab. I've tried it before. It is a foolish waste of time, because the two sides basically represent two diametrically opposed philosophies about when life begins and/or at what point the life of the unborn supersedes the woman's right to control her own body. Believe it or not, I have my own private opinion about when a woman should not have the right to abort. I believe there is a point--late in pregnancy--when the State's interest in protecting a fetus overrides the mother's interest in privacy. However, I ain't going any further than that, b/c I would rather step in shit than open up another abortion debate.

I do, however, know several anti-abortion advocates. Most of them are members of my extended Roman Catholic family. We get along fine together, as long as nobody brings up religion or politics. (Actually, we secretly like to bring up religion and politics, b/c one thing we all do share is a love of loud, finger-pointing argument.)

So there you are. Go off and advocate whatever causes come to mind. And I will respond if I want to, and call you a reactionary, because based on your bizarre perspectives on women, sexuality, and criminal justice, I think you are a reactionary.

"Oddly enough, I find almost every man I talk to fairly interested in regular conversation, with no apparent sexual motives. I consider myself fairly perceptive, and the men I talk to generally never seem to expect or want more than a stimulating conversation or lively debate, or in some cases a good joke. Either all my male acquaintances comprise the enlightened minority of the sex, or they're adept at concealing their prurient, lascivious agenda to fuck me."

Actually, Julie is a very attractive people of the women persuasion. I have been one of the guys who has had some of those regular conversations she mentions. I didn't realize I was concealing my lascivious agenda, though. My lascivious agenda is usually showing. Sorta like being caught with your fly down, and all that...

I can't respond to JJJ's melodramatic, over-the-top, drivel. Mostly because it makes me want to fwow up, but also because he is a wacko. I will, however, offer my remarks to you.

There are places on earth where women receive the staunch protection of men, where they are cloistered away from open society, and where they grow up behind veils so that no man even go so far as to be tempted by their contenance. They are forbidden to sit in the same room as their male counterparts. And they are not allowed to express themselves in public. These women are "protected." They rarely, if ever, suffer assault by strangers. That's the other side of this shiny coin that JJJ's picked up.

Men and women are very different on many levels. Our bodies are different, our chemical wiring, even our options in life. There's that little thing about how women can get pregnent, for example. You can't regard equality as sameness. And in general, women aren't on physical par with men such that they can defend themselves against assault.

But in a society that promotes equality of the sexes (not sameness, mind you), women are freely permitted to choose their lifestyle. They are not held under restriction for their own protection. And they are free to enable themselves in any way they see fit whether it be education, politics, or, as in this case, on the slanted field of human combat by way of legal self-defense accessories.

Personally, I doubt if the woman with mace that JJJ was likely creeping out would consider the sex of an attacker before deploying it. Rather she would be defending herself against harm no matter what sex it took. She recognizes that in this society, one that affords women more opportunities than any other, she must assume certain risks. And she recognizes that she can exercise control over the level of risk she assumes by mitigating circumstances with technology, avoiding scenarios that are intuitively risky, and by taking responsibility for her own safety.

She could simply bemoan the state of the world ("...that it has always been this way for women and always will be) and refrain from going to a pool where wackos swill Heineken and giddily peer from behind sunglasses to assess her exposure. But she has selected to view the world as it is, and behave accordingly. Contrary to JJJ's musings about how the mace reminds her of her vulnerability, I expect it gives her a sense of empowerment.

And even though JJJ whines and drones about the way things are, I'm not sure what he thinks should be done. I don't assault women and don't advocate it, nor do I know any one who does.

But I do advocate women by the pool. And I salute those who have chosen to rely on their own initiative. They don't see themselves, as JJJ does, as victims-in-waiting.

Anyone who knows me will, I believe, tell you that I love women. I prefer that over pity.

PS: One more thing, KnoXXX:
What is it that makes a man feel like he has to rape? What is it that makes a man feel the need to carress her face with his fist when she disagrees with his words?

What is it that makes people feel that they have to over-generalize? Bad people come in all sexes.

That girl didn't buy the mace can because she was even REMOTELY concerned about a woman attacker;-- she bought it because she wanted protection from a potential male assaulter. You've been eating way too much watermelon if you think she was worried about women attacking her, man.

And the 'assumption of risk' tactic fails to take into account that the LEVEL of risk is not exponentially higher than it was a long time ago.

Ask an elderly person how many girls were abducted and killed when he was a teenager;-- damn few if ANY in many parts of America. In 1920, a girl walking the streets of Nashville wasn't worried about getting abducted, Gene.

I also did NOT say that it reminds her of vulnerability-- go back and read the post.

I see you're back with your typical sex laced insults about the slender mace can, and the 'wacko' labels....

that's because you don't have what it takes to step your narrow ass up to the plate and debate a person who KNOWS this subject;

instead, all you can do is lob insults from a peanut gallery while expecting cheers from the madding crowd.

There's nothing about me that is wacko, Gene. I'm a perfectly normal, heterosexual guy. Perhaps when the dangerous drummer some of you are familiar with can get a weekend off, you'll see the Jester himself in one of knox' finest bars, knocking down a Heineken.

Have LT1 V-8; will travel.

Maybe then you can tell me your analysis face to face, pard.

Women abuse too. But I belive women abuse because of a cycle of abuse in their family, be it a man who abused her as a child,
or a father who demanded quiet and so the mother would abuse her to keep the home quiet so then the father wouldn't hit the
mother. You get my point.

Hey, maybe men abuse because of a cycle of abuse, too. Or are they just inherently evil, while women are inherently good?

Most male criminals had a single, neglectful mother and no father figure around.
