The Salt Journal: A mythology/culture/spirituallty mag. Still don't know about it. Thought it was going to be a academic look at myths and spirituality but it's coming off like a True Believer. Articles aren't too bad. Great article on how Captialism is very similiar to a religion with the invisible moving hand it's god.

The Diamond Age, Neal Stephenson: Like the cultural references. How gangs have turned legit and even modeled themselves after cultural periods. Tech is explained but not mind boggeling so. Characters are cool. Have a shade of throw awayism to them but their decent. Story wanders around a bit. Almost has a rambling feel to it. Love the prose.

How to have a Lifestyle, Quentin Crisp: Was reading the Sentamentist. They had a old interview of his published. Went to Book Eddy and this was on the disply rack. Thought "Ok, someone is trying to tell me something." Not too bad. Imagine a elderly man gving you life lessons but with a flippant style.

The Gnostics, Tobias Churton: Supposed to be a supplement to a telivsiosn program. Never saw it, wished I did. Gives a decent history of the gnostic idea. some history, some myths, a littlbe bit of evertying in a small 163 page format.

Techgnosis : Myth, Magic + Mysticism in the Age of Information,
Erik Davis: Argues that technology does not undermine spirtuality but spirituality adapts to technology. Has a wonderful chapter on Mud's. compares tech libertarinism to Gnositicism in both philosphies adherence to personal self over social norms.

Age of Unreason, J. Gregory Keyes: Swallowed this one whole. Love the series. Alchemy exists as science. Simple easy enough. Supernatural scientific beings exist who produce magic to make humanity error in it's beliefs. Cool. Franklin, Voltiare, Blackbeard, Cotten Mathers, all make appearnces in the series with Franklin being the star boy of sorts. Lead charachters of a love of mathmatics and science that carries over in narrative. Now why couldn't 2001 be like this?
