I don't think that Trey was around there then. From what I remember the show was booked for 94Z through their label.

what work? which job? only two boards. little sleep. too much free time. am i to assume you approve of one of the jobs i am doing? why do you wish me to keep it up? keep what up? the job(s) or the posting? why does it matter to you? shouldn't you be rubbin' some feet? or be out buying ice cream and pickles? if you were takin' care of that woman like you are supposed to be then you wouldn't have time to read my ramblings. what i do in my free time is really none of your concern. download complete - gotta go. song tweaked - gotta go. bored with this - gotta go.

I believe they opened for THE GRIFTERS that evening. Kim and at least one or two others in the band were fresh out of rehab, and all met and formed the band while doing that "time." Their set was pretty sloppy as far as I can remember, but it was one of the first shows that they really did in public I believe. Not a sold out show by any means, but the bulk of the crowd was there for Grifters. The ones who were there for The Amps were actually more there to see "Breeder Kim," if you will. Again, nothing mind blowing, but as best as I can remember, that was what went down. I can probably do a bit more research and tell you more, but nothing stands out other than they were pretty ordinary at that time. I do know this, those boys from Memphis rocked the house that night, as usual!

Re: an old mercury theatre question? -- Benny Smith
Not to contradict the great Benny Smith, who kept me hopped-up on caffeine while providing beer for countless other musicians at the Mercury shows he put together, but the Kelly Deal 6000 opened up for the Grifters and Red Red Meat at that Mercury show...not the Amps. So it was the other "Deal" and it was so bad some of us thought she should change the band name to Big Fucking Deal. But The Grifters did have a damn good night that night and Red Red Meat were astounding as well. From what I remember all of the Grifters were on the stage playing drums for RRMeat.

Sweet Bobby, great to see you are still out there going strong! And thanks for jump starting my memory bank. All of those Mercury shows are hard to remember for a number of reasons. I did look up that info at home last night, and you are right on it. I do remember Red Red Meat kicking buttus that night, as well. And I think that Kelly Deal 6000 was a last minute addition to the bill as a favor for Grifter Dave. And you are EXACTLy right, they were no big Deal at all. Pretty bad, actually...Good hearing from you.
Thanks Sweet Roberto!

No problemo Benny. If you ever need a place to crash in Philly just let me know. We can go out and preach the good word of bluegrass to these Yankee infidels up here. In case you're wondering, Scott Miller had an entire crowd of folks up here wrapped around his finger back in the spring. So your boys do the city proud when they leave the area.
