ok this isnt the earliest and its not from one band but i thought it would be worth mentioning -
in 91 or 92 new rock 90 released a CD called "meanwhile, somewhere in the 90s". It was a collection of songs from a number of local bands. i lost my copy years ago so if anyone has any extras laying around i would really like to have a copy -

I am not sure which was first but Hard Knox put out "Trapped In The City's Web" sometime around 1989 and Runaway had one out around the same time. Oh yeah, The Blueshrooms, Jolly Roger and Without Warning were close in there too. Free Fourmula had one around '91.
