The Discovery of Upsilon Andromedae

Here's an interesting deal from the West Coast: astronomers have found a WORLD SYSTEM...basically another solar system, a star with planets circling it, and it's about 44 light years from earth. For four years the astronomers took data at the Whipple Observatory in Tucson, AZ.

There are three planets circling the star called Upsilon Andromedae, and the inner most one is about 3/4ths the size of Jupiter.

The middle planet is twice the size of Jupiter and is about the same distance from the star as Venus is to our Sun.

The World System of Upsilon Andromedae is about 3 billion years old, so it is younger than our solar system. The discovery might actually make a good article in the Metroblab, and scientists are always glad to talk with reporters about their discoveries. They might be able to give a great interview to a journalist in Tennessee....
