I know this will be difficult for alot of you, but why do you love Knoxville? can anyone answer this? So many of you bitch here and other places, but you still stick around. What are your reasons for staying? Humor me.

What always got me were people who moved to Cocke County from Florida or whatever and said "Oh we love it here. It's so quiet and peacefull and and and."

Getting old must be horrible.

Anyway what I love about Knoxville.

1. The music. It's a great musical time right now. Forget every week there's some going on. Every day of the week there's something going on.

2. The Bookstores. The chain ones are nice. What's even better to me are the small locally owned one. Mckays has it's own small university type setting. The Book Eddy is just homey. And you got cats. How can you avoid a bookstore with cats.

3. The majority of people here can read.

4. Locally owned shops and resteraunts. Really there's a whole butload and stores here. Nice locally owned stuff that's freaky or wierd or just homey. Disc Exchange a noted player on this scene.

5. City/country combination. It wierded me out. Here I am in knoxville but if i go just a few miles up Broadway I'm in some pretty scenic country. Impressed me. If I ever get my fill of urbanainia I'm headingup that way.

6. Architecture. There's some wonderful buildings here. Love the Chruch architecture.

7. The Sunshpere.

A part of me would like to move to Ashville. Air is a bit better over there. Right next to Biltmore. Plus roadways make more sense.

But for the longrun it's in Knoxville I'm staying. Lot of cultural potential here.

Knoxvegas has lots of entertainment/cultural possibilities and lots of friendly people...but given the opportunity to move to a small town in the mountains near the tri-cities, I jumped for it. Not too far from Knoxville if I get the urge...got a nice home real cheap...I like the Tri-Cities; lots of musical possibilities...Asheville is right down the road and over the mountains, a few hours away....Boone/Blowing Rock, too...and Roanoke looks like a cool town.

I just got sick of the never-ending road construction, the traffic, the ineffective, petty, small-minded politicians like Prickt R. Ass, the KKKPD, UT fuck-politics......

I can tell you that I KNOW that I would like the lower crime rate. Here in Memphis we LEAD the entire southeast in rape, carjacking, home invasion robberies and bank robberies. We have 15-25 home invasion robberies every week in Memphis, about 100 bank robberies a year, about 150-220 murders a year.

Car theft is UNREAL here, and insurance rates reflect that.

If I lived there, the first thing I would begin to see is that big city crime is not nearly so bad once ya get OUT of the big city....
