The Hard Knox Blues Fest and Rib Cookoff
* 3-10 pm / Old City Courtyard & Jackson Ave.
* Free blues in the Courtyard with Cheryl Renee Blues Band, MacDaddies, Alvin "Youngblood" Hart, and Tracy Nelson...
* Close to 20 rib vendors competing for the best in east Tennessee..THE BIG RIB! Minimal cost to sample the ribs, and full plates will be available for purchase, as well. Everyone from Corky's and Buddy's to Pigs-R-Us and many others competing and offering their bbq.
* Miller Beer, Highland Brewery, and Pepsi will be there with cold drinks.
* Jackson Ave will be blocked off for plenty of room.

Later tonight at Patrick Sullivans the Thompson Brothers are playing.If you haven't heard them they're kinda pop-ish but really good.Kinda Hootie meets Cheap Trick with a good sense of humor.There's a girl (from California I think) opening for them named Ali Handal.I heard part of her cd and what I heard of it rocked.
Should be fun!

this this the same tracey nelson that was sort of big in the 60s with her band mother earth? if its the same one, she's great - like janis joplin only better I always thought. and that alvin dude is fucking awesome.

You are correct. Had the band Mother Earth in the later 60's / early 70's...helluva powerful voice. Should be a great show. See you there. I'll be the one with barbeque sauce on my face...
