I would like to publicly state my opposition to any present or future attempts by any member of the Metro Pulse staff to turn down/off or otherwise reduce in any minute fashion the pressure and intensity of the Sarcasm Hose. The currents, depth, and muckiness of sarcasm depend entirely on the outrageous, violent, and often pulsating vigor of a good Sarcasm Hose, and I can't imagine a better tool for an alternative weekly, which is supposed to be rife with smug, cheeky sarcasm, designed specifically to piss off people while probing the limits of human sensitivity. Keep that snake a comin'.

If I didn't pay attention to what readers said, I wouldn't have devoted some ridiculous amount of words to this ridiculous topic. I do care what readers say. I hear you. But I don't feel your pain. I read reviews, previews, opinion pieces, etc. all the time. Sometimes I agree with them, sometimes I don't. But I accept their right to exist. What I've done "wrong" in your view is express an opinion you don't agree with. My only real suggestion to you is to not read the movie predictions if they're going to cause you such stress. They will not go away. And they will remain opinionated and sometimes sarcastic. Why? Because that's the way (uh-huh uh-huh) we like them. And while we care a great deal about our readers and hope that you all eat well and get exercise and eight hours of sleep a night, while we would never wish anything ill on any of you, while we would, if we could, protect each of your delicate sensibilities from the harsh realities of this oh-so-cruel world, while all of that is true... well, at the end of the day, we've gotta do what we've gotta do. As responsive as we try to be, this is still our paper. It is not a democracy, and while I believe in media accountability, that doesn't extend to just doing whatever any particular reader says we should do. Insult our professionalism all you want, insult our intelligence, question our very right to draw breath -- we cherish your thoughts. The fact is, we were not chosen randomly to do these jobs. We were chosen for our experience, intelligence and abilities (and our funny names). Nor do we do things randomly. We apply our experience, intelligence and abilities to our jobs the best we know how. And every day is a learning experience, Hunter, really it is. So thank you for the lesson, but I think the bell is ringing...jfm

Jesse, I want you to do one thing for me. I want you to find where, in any post, I declared that your blurb "shouldn't exist". Of course I accept your right to do whatever you damn well please with your paper. Never said otherwise. All I actually did was comment on why I thought it was poorly researched. I was offering criticism in the hopes that it would be one of the millions of factors that make up your editorial process - not in the hopes that you would stop writing movie blurbs. I mean, come on. Stop making enemies where there are none.
