Need a good barbershop

I've lived in Knoxville a little over a year now. I've been getting my hair cut where my wife goes, just because I didn't know anywhere else to go. I have nothing at all against the good folks at Venus Salon, Eric does a good job. I just want to go a place where guys go and there are car and sports magazines instead of... well, you know.

Where can a guy get a good $20 haircut in this town?

Out west at Suburban Center. Out back by the construction. Across from TIS building. I wanna say it's Suburban Hills Barbershop. I go there every six weeks. Enough for brain fade I guess.

Go see Tony at Varsity Barber Shop (between Walgreens and Kinkos on Cumberland Ave). He's the best buddhist barber in town. $10 dollar cut.

Fountaingate B.S. on jacksboro pike just (north of 640) is the place to go. cut & tip for less than $10. most law enforcement (especially KPD) get cut there. not a place for children to be at tho, the lang. is oft peppered with mature themes. diffinately a man's place. of course it's been a while since i was there.

"peppered with mature themes"

It is a barber shop, after all.

When Jack, one of the guys from Union Ave., was sick, a guy stuck his head in the door, saw the empty chair, and asked, "Jack off today?"

Lynn, one of the other barbers, didn't miss a beat. "Not yet."

Maybe not so funny to read, but pure genius to see and hear.

There's the Union Ave. barbershop. Or if you prefer something further west, I always liked the one in Western Plaza; I'm not sure about car and sports mags, but the walls are covered with college football pennants.

Thanks. In town is better. Football pennants are good enough. I'm not a car or sports fan anyway, just looking for a more testosterone-laden atmosphere.

Union Ave. is tops. The one in the little cul de sac-ish shopping center next to the Walgreen's on Cumberland is fair, too.
