If so...WHY?
You guys got tons of trees there. Surely there's the wind blowin' thru the joint. I just saw a photo below of Knoxville, and I had no idea you guys had buildings that big! I thought it was a college town where the biggest buildings were 4 stories high, or something like that. Like I say, I ain't never been to no Knoxville, so I sure as heck don't freakin' KNOW what the city looks like. After seeing that photo, I defiNUTly need to git my buns on over to check it all out. Course it's a LONG way from Memphis, Tennessee. Guess that's why I ain't a been there yet.
Does anyone have a GOOD web site where I can read about the air problem?
One of my friends told me that you guys have acid fog there in the mountains, and that above a certain elevation all the trees are screwed up from the coal fired plants to the north of the state. Is this true?

If so...WHY?
Lots of reasons. Not the least of which is that I-75 and I-40 (two of the most heavily travelled interstates in the nation) intersect here. Beyond that, we're at the end of the Tennessee Valley, between the Cumberland Plateu and the Smokies. Coal fired steam plants and manufacturing plants as far south as Birmingham contribute. As does the miles and miles of sprawl (and subsequent lengthy commutes) that surround our city.
