The biggest three automakers will cut FIFTY THOUSAND jobs over the next four years, says Goldman Sachs analyst Gary Lapidus today.

Ten to thirteen assembly plants will close, and thousands of hourly workers will lose their jobs, some thru 'attrition'....

dontcha LOVE that word 'attrition' and all that it means?

I guess that is their way of saying atleast SOME of these jobs are jobs that someone gave us back, gave up and QUIT on....

so it wasn't our quest for profits that caused them to no longer

have a job.

attrition

1 [Middle English attricioun, from Medieval Latin attrition-, attritio, from Latin] : sorrow for one's sins that arises from a motive other than that of the love of God
2 : the act of rubbing together : FRICTION; also : the act of wearing or grinding down by friction
3 : the act of weakening or exhausting by constant harassment, abuse, or attack
4 : a reduction in numbers usually as a result of resignation, retirement, or death

Heck, I figure at least 3 of 4 might fit.
