but it's just a fancy way of saying
"we're about to phuck over a thousand folks who have worked overtime, poured their hearts and souls into making us a good company, and the best part of this is that these folks are all making GOOD SALARIES because many of them have been with us for years."
The company said it plans to hire in 'strategic, high growth areas'....which basically means that they know they have a buyer's market and thousands of folks out there are unemployed, and will now go to work for them (PROBABLY IN THE SAME positions of the poor wretches Sun Micro is now laying off) for less than half of what they are really worth.
Shares rose 15 cents to close at $4.17 in New York.
