Eastman chairman and CEO Brian Ferguson, who will make untold millions this year, kindly put twenty four hundred middle class folks on notice that they will be looking for a new job around Kingsport, Tennessee.

They call it 'restructuring'....

2400 jobs...

just another way of saying they pluck people over "but it's just business...."

Shares of Eastman rose 10 cents to close near 35 bucks in New York.

my mom used to work for them. she says they are pretty evil and cold-hearted there about layoffs. shes heard every terminology for layoffs you can imagine. one time around july the company said it was going to be doing layoffs in december. as the months went by, people got more and more stressed, especially since so many thought they were going to get axed around xmas. she said the entire month of december people were crying all over the place since they were so stressed about the impending layoffs. then on dec 26 the company sent out a letter saying there werent going to be any layoffs, and that they changed their minds. of course, by that time a lot of people's holidays were ruined. there was a lot of speculation that this was just an exercise in "employee efficency", seeing as that the company knew that with word of layoffs everyone would bust their butt overworking themselves to show how dedicated and indespensible they are. eastman can blow me; theyve treated their people like shit many times.
