What's nature up to now?

I'm coming to believe that the next step for life is to move into space, and that means evolving thicker skin, greatly reduced energy needs, and ways of getting around. Now nature could crank out beasties with reflective membranes light enough and of sufficient surface area to move around the system by light pressure, but that would be sorta roundabout.

My personal belief is that nature is beginning to select toward more rocket-like configruations, and this is why so many creatures fart so heartily. The coffee plant could be considered a symbiote, if you follow me.
