(while aquiring this cd, a very nervous man next to me contacted his father via cell phone and read each and every song on every roy orbison album available. LOUDLY. he then gave me an unrequested explanation that involved his father never getting paid/credit for the song he wrote entitled "OOBY DOOBY" performed by roy orbison. he mentioned another famous musician, jerry lee lewis, who performed another song written by his father that was subsequently stolen. said "they" (an evil mr. sam phillips, legendary owner of sun records) "screwed him by claiming he (phillips) wrote the songs just like they screwed elvis in his early years". throughut this entire story LOUDLY proliferated, the man failed to control his physical anxiety, giving himself over to quick nervous movements of the limbs as well as turning multiple shades of reddish purple while all the while sweating so profusely his clothes/hair were saturated.

ALL OF THESE AQUIRED FROM THE KNOXVILLE LIBRARY DOWNTOWN AUDIOVISUAL DEPARTMENT. this is a little gemstone of a place to get music. a library card owner can check out ten cd's at any one time. also have video rentals for a dollar a day (beats most corporate rental places) and there is a varied collection of educational and well made music documentaries/histories. every library employee that i have met has been quite adamant in regards to quick and thoughtful assistance to questions or problems.

someone mentioned earlier this month that they just don't get captain beefheart.

i think it was the certain brand of guitar playing they employ that irked me. i like several styles of late 60's and 70's guitar sounds, but the guitar style on each captain beefheart song i heard, filled me with the desire to smack somone. anyone. naturally, i can't articulate the particular guitar notes/sound i dislike with,"weh weh weh der du der de doo de doo de", without playing the song. so,in turn, i would find it difficult to express specifics.

course, i think i need a more broad experience with CB since i had, at the smacking the shit out of something stage, only listened to the first 6 or 7 songs on the album. also, i was nurturing a headache that was progressing with haste. so i can't say with confidence that i, without question, dislike the band.

It rawked. I'm a little disappointed that I got so drunk -- I remember the whole show, but I'd like to be a little clearer about it than I am. (And not feel the way I do right now.)
