Bush and Ashcroft contiue to work to erode our civil liberties. Their supporters say, "If you're not a terrorist, you have nothing to worry about with these expansions of police authority."

Well, how about the fact that the current 'Patiot Act' is being used to pursue and prosecute non-terrorist activities with the support of the Ashcroft Justice Department?

Bush supporters would say, "Well, at least you still have nothing to worry about if you're not a criminal!"

Funny thing is, the way our system is supposed to work, police used to need a warrant from a judge to do a search, as a check check their power, and then there would be a hearing before a judge where the accused would be chaged, as a check on police power, and then there would be a trial before a judge and jury (with the accused presumed innocent!), as a check on police power.

As the Bush administration continues to remove the judicial checks on police power, we all have to worry. Even honest police can make mistakes, and with no one to check their authoroity, non-criminals can be searched and held with no appeal.

That's not right.

Bush and Ashcroft have to go, before they take us too far (well, even further) down this path.

Well, at least JJJ will be content that meth labs are now being prosecuted as a manufacture of a chemical weapon.

how long before protestors and general dissadents are considered "terrorists" under the Patriot Act? its funny hearing the people who say they dont mind giving up a little privacy in the name of extra security. yeah, until their kid is picked up for checking out the Communist Manifesto from the library. more of the general populus attitude of "if its not in my back yard right now, it doesnt effect me". aint american sentiment great?

I caught GW Bush looking at me in the shower, through a peephole. I squirted shampoo in his squooshy eyeball.
