No one, including myself, understood the damage created by hap-hazardly shovelling billions and billions of dollars a year into Saudi Arabia, before September 11th, 2001. But by the 12th, many intellectual patriotic Americans began to see what kind of dependance we have locked ourselves into--a destructive relationship with a country whose last 50 years of existence have been fed by our greed for their resources. At $20 / barrel, it would be ludicrous to look elsewhere. And that is what the Texas dictator wants you to believe. But it is backwards thinking to try and hide the Saudi-Texas connection to the terror, our country continues to suffer under. The culture building experiment failed, and it failed miserably. Step back and look at the results. Let's, you and I, find a poor undeveloped nation, throw billions and billions of dollars a year at it, with no regard as to what they spend it on, and watch to see what kind of culture and people develop from that country after 50 years. The results would be rather enlightening, and quite similar, to the vile terrorists we suffered from on that awful day 2 years ago. The fault lies, perhaps on no one, but to continue that relationship, and pass legislation to uphold its continuance (shutting down AmTrak, giving Gas guzzler purchase incentives, bail out fuel wasting Airline companies, giving Halliburton a blank cheque for War support, giving crumbs to alternative fuel research, etc.), is absolutely ignorant and to a point un-American.

Read Al Franken's "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them" for whose fault it was. Clinton's people handed Bush's people a plan and a warning, and Bush's people ignored it.Damn, I hate to be baited.

i can't help wondering how much better shape everything in this country would be in had he been ALLOWED to do his damn job.at the least, it would have taken longer for bush to turn it to shit.

Bill was still running the country in 2000? Damn, I've got to keep up with politics. Let's reframe the question:
Since Bushco insists Iraq had something to do with 911, perhaps we should say "I just can't help but wonder how many people would still be alive today if George Bush the First had just done his damned job" and finished off Saddam.

Re: 9/11 -- spinetingler
George senior tried. We were less than thirty minutes from having Saddam when he struck a deal with the UN. He forfeited Kuwait and was to dismantle his wmd research and various other war making systems. Of course he didn't and now we have to do it all again. Hopefully, the support of the liberals and democritics will be there and we can get the job doen right.

"was to dismantle his wmd research...Of course he didn't"that alone shows you dont know what you are talking about. youd think wed have found those by now. where are these WMDs again? you just debunked yourself. how odd.

yeah weve met; arent you the one who was showing us airel views in iraq of chemlabs and show-and-telling us those nifty aluminum tubes to support this war just a year ago? yeah, i thought so..
Ha! Leave it to fluff to give Saddam the benefit of the doubt.

Holding true to form, eh?Yeah, Saddam was innocent. He destroyed all his wmds during the four years after he kicked out the inspectors who documented them. Hey, did you hear they uncovered a jet fighter buried in the sand last month? A jet fighter. A big airplane. And that took four months to find. What relevant comment do you have on that?

yeah, thats what i said; saddam is innocent. whatever, scott. actually what they found(thanks for the link to your statement, tequila mockingbird) was 30 Mach 3 capable MiG-25 Foxbat high-speed fighters and reconnaissance aircraft. we knew they had these in Desert Storm since there was firsthand engagement of these(Iraqi air force MiG-25 fighter is credited with Iraqs only air-to-air victory during Operation Desert Storm, having shot-down Navy pilot Lieutenant Commander Michael Scott Speicher). finding these is like finding a cache of rifles. im talking about WMD's here. you know, the thing based this war on over and over? i never once heard W mention fighter planes in his speeches to drum up support for this war. IF these were the golden tickets W needed to give all those questioning his actions a big "I told you so", dont you think he would have been singing it from the rooftops?

Re: riight -- fluffy
True, Migs aren't the smoking gun of wmd. But it does lend credence to the ability to hide stuff in the desert. I am quite certain that after the wmd are found, there will be some red faces. i just pray we find them before they get used, again.
Per his usual, fluff didn't comprehend.

No surprise there, though. The point was delineated perfectly by hardrock. If it takes five months to find a big airplane buried in the sands of Iraq by Hussein, how long does it take to find drums of chemicals that take up the room equivalent to a good-sized swimming pool and can be used to make thousands or tens of thousands of warheads? Fluffy, do you ever get tired of being stupid?
Another great point by me.

Oh, and when they are found (as they probably have been and await an unveiling closer to election time) people like Fluff, his "wife" (or his "beard" depending on how you look at it) and all the leftist America-haters can always rely on the old chestnut: "But they were planted by George W.!"Hey, run that up the flagpole and see who salutes, I guess. The rest of the democratic lies haven't worked to date.

Re: 9/11 -- fluffy
Well, let's see... He GASSED his own people and the LAST TIME I was in Iraq, we were dodging them in the scuds. Strange, I don't see how I "debunked" anything.

Yep, he GASSED his own people. You know who helped him GAS his own people? Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. You know who voted down a motion in the U.S. Senate to sanction Iraq after Saddam Hussein GASSED his own people? Senate Republicans, that's who. Some of them are still in the Senate. There are Saddam supporters in Washington, all right, but most of them are Republicans.
