Where would this oasis be? The Hack likes to read sometimes. Love to visit this spot.

...or "Volunteer Landing," as the sign says. Krutch Park would've been my previous nomination.

volunteer landing i'll check out. i checked out tyson park today. i've been several times in the last few years but i could'nt remember if they were still doing construction there. apparantly they're not but, somehow worse, the place was invaded by busloads of middle schoolers. there was even a "petro" catering van. petro caters? this disturbs me. i just imagine all these little kids plagued with torturous farts, stuck on a hot bus going back to school at the end of the day. not a pretty picture. all in all, just not condusive to reading, for today at least. and was'nt there something about a rape on the trails there about a year ago? iams is ok but a little far out and some of the trails i hesitate to go and read on alone. as for the quary, no thanks, if i'm going to be attacked i'd rather it be somewhere closer to home. i've attempted the early bar thing but discovered that the frequency of being accosted by other bar attenders makes for a very hard read. actually, before krutch park was assraped, it would have been my first choice.
home is a good location (oh the regrets of a balcony-less apartment) and the library is damn quiet, but BOY do i need some melatonin right now. plus, pre-fall temperature will be superb in the up coming weeks. and that fall smell; it's like a very fine drug.

thank you all for the suggestions. if any other places come to mind, feel obliged to post them.
