What - couldn't find a way to include more than three pics of Bill Baxter??? For God's sakes, it looked like he was posing for a fashion issue (except that he had on the exact same clothing in all three, almost identically posed pics).

And what happened to Meet Your City? This is the second week in a row it's been missing. Not important any longer to inform the public about meetings on public business?

I watched Citizen Kane again this week. In it, Kane writes up what he calls his Declaration of Principles:

"I will provide the people of this city with a daily paper that will tell all the news honestly. I will also provide them with a fighting and tireless champion of their rights as citizens and as human beings."

Brian Conley offered us this:

"Knoxville needs Metro Pulse. It is our city's only credible alternative print news source, and I want to do what I can to ensure its stability and vitality for years to come."

MP is slowly degrading. Instead of adhering to his commitment to "ensure its stability" what we've seen is a lot of full page ads for Cardinal Construction and a slow erosion of the quality and style that made Metro Pulse an award-winning newspaper. Contrary to Mr. Conley's promise to "maintain the high standard of journalistic integrity that Joe has established" the paper is slowly becoming mundane and irrelevent.

I've read a number of comments from its readers, both here and on K2K. And not one single one has reflected positivly upon the new ownership.

Later in the film Citizen Kane, Kane revises his position:
"People will think what I tell them to think."

Shortly after taking over Metro Pulse, Conley wrote here:
"Shut the fuck up."

And so it goes.
