Four Americans made it to the men's and women's semifinals. Three of them are out, and Roddick's down 2 sets to 0. Golly. I blame Donald Rumsfeld.

(I went down and watched the 1st set of the Roddick/Nalbandian match on the Jumbotron in Rockefeller Center. It was cool, they had a lawn with lawn chairs, and bleachers at the back. And beer, too.)

Golly again. Roddick stays alive. Kid could be a star. He's sloppy, but he's got charisma. Charisma and a 140 mph serve. That'll get you a long way.

Yeah, he's mighty cute. The USTA is banking on him for sure. Pete's retired, Andre's bald, the Williamses are injured -- who will sell the sport?
